FAITH AND HOPE

FAITH IN GOD

Romans 4:3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.”

Philippians 3:9  And be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith

Hebrews 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith; but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. (KJV)

Hebrews 11:6   Without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Romans 5:1-2          Since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

1 John 5:4       For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

THE TRIAL OF FAITH

1 Peter 4:12-13      Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.

1 Peter 1:6-7          In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

James 1:2-4     Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

1 Corinthians 10:13  No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

Ephesians 6:16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.

WALK BY FAITH

John 20:29             Jesus said to him, “Thomas, have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

1 Peter 1:8-9          Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Hebrews 11:1   Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Hebrews 10:35        Do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.

2 Corinthians 5:7     We walk by faith, not by sight.

2 Timothy 1:12 I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me.

PRAYERS OF FAITH (AND FOR FAITH)

Luke 17:5        Lord, Increase our faith. (KJV)

Mark 9:24        Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. (KJV)

Psalms 62:5-6  For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.

Psalms 71:14          But I will hope continually and will praise you yet more and more.

GOD IS LOVE

Matthew 22:37-40   You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.

1 John 4:8       Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Romans 5:5  God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

1 John 4:19     We love him, because he first loved us.

Romans 13:10  Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

John 15:10, 12 (Jesus said) If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

John 13:35     By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

1 Peter 4:8      Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.

Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Ephesians 3:17-19   That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
