HARD TIMES

GOD CAN HANDLE OUR MANY TROUBLES

Psalms 91:15   (The Lord says) When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.

Isaiah 59:1       Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear.

Psalms 55:22   Cast your burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain you: he shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

Psalms 46:1     God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

1 John 4:4       Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

Psalms 138:8   The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.

John 16:21-22 When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.

Romans 8:18    For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

Psalms 42:5     Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation

Psalms 61:1-2  Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

THE GOOD FIGHT

WE MUST LEARN TO FIGHT SPIRITUAL BATTLES

1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Ephesians 6:11-12   Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

James 4:7, 10  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. (KJV)

2 Timothy 2:3  Endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. (KJV)

Note: “Endure” means “to undergo, to go through.” “As a good soldier” would seem to imply not complaining, whining, or feeling sorry for self, as well as relying on the commander and his instructions and training instead of dealing with it in your own way.

Romans 8:37    We are more than conquerors through him that loved us. (KJV)

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,.

2 Corinthians 4:17   For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison.

2 Peter 2:9     The Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials.

1 Peter 5:10    And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

Isaiah 25:8-9    He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken. It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”

PRAYERS FOR FIGHTING IN THE SPIRIT

Psalms 31:15   My times are in your hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors!

Psalms 5:8       Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.

Psalms 18:39   For you equipped me with strength for the battle; you made those who rise against me sink under me.

Jude 24-25      Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

STRENGTH FROM GOD

WE ARE WEAK BUT HE IS STRONG

Zechariah 4:6   Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.

Isaiah 41:10     Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Romans 5:6     For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10     But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (KJV)

Luke 18:27      The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. (KJV)

2 Corinthians 4:7     We have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
